Neusiedler See
Even though the southern end of it lies in Hungary, this is the biggest lake of Austria and is, just as its bigger brother in Hungary, the lake of Balaton, surrounded by plains and reed. It is rather shallow and a part of it is a national nature protection area. There are many reasons for a visit; flora and fauna attract nature lovers, the wines of Burgenland other bon vivants. Continues winds make the lake a true sailor’s paradise.

This Lake, in the southeast of
Vienna and southwest of Bratislava lies in the middle of Burgenland. The southern end of it is in Hungary. The “Burgenland” offers a lot of culture, nature, wine and sports to its visitors. The “Nationalpark Neusiedler See-Seewinkel” is part of the UNESCO cultural heritage.

Wine and Dine
Wine growers of Burgenland have made considerable efforts in caring about there red wines first of all. Some of them belong now to the European top class. The fruity, lively and dry white wines can be found everywhere and the white sweet wines are widespread too.
The cuisine is Austrian-Hungarian; for example
Im Heu gebratenes Roastbeef vom HirschSomlauer Nockerl, Neusiedler Seefisch im Ganzen gebraten and so on.
