a really
splendid river with very beautiful towns giving sometime the impression of
Hanseatic cities that had been transferred to the south.
This waterway which connects big Czech cities like Melnik,
Nymburk and Kolin with the metropolitan area of Berlin and the Baltic
Sea could be of great importance. But traffic has gone back for quite some time now.
Ship convoys have great problems, especially between the confluence of Elbe with Moldau and Magdeburg, because of the
unstable flow conditions.
