Canal du Loing
Coming from Paris one leaves the Seine at St. Mammès and gets onto the Canal du Loing, after 50 kms it leads into the Canal de Briare already. It is a very good-natured canal with little transportation traffic.
Tourism
Is not of much importance in this area but the city of Nemour is worthwhile a visit. Since the Loing valley is a side valley of the Loire, some very nice castles can be found around here. Between Cépoy and Mortargis, the Canal d’Orleans is turning off but it is not navigable anymore. (There is now and then spoken about a reopening).
Wine and Dine
We are here at the border to Nivernais with its very tasty Charolais beef. The typical French inland cokking is being served and quality can be of a rather wide range..!
Information to the Canal de Loing
