The Canal du Nord is the most important stretch of the fairway for big vessels between Paris and Dunkirk and it is planned to even enlarge it in the near future, this together with the Oise. Dimensions and heavy traffic don’t make it really suitable for a house boat holiday. It can only be recommended to those who are in a hurry to get northwards.
