The following stretches make part of this connection:
- Canal de la Haute Colme, Dunkirk to Watten
- Canalized Aa from Watten to Saint Omer
- Canal de Neuffossée Saint Omer to Aire-sur-Lys
- Canal d’Aire from Aire-sur-Lys to the mouth of River Deûle at km 55
- Canal de la Deûle to Douai
- Douai to Paillencourt on Canal de la Sencée
- This one than flows into L’Escaut, coming from the south and the Canal Saint Quentin, crossing then the southeast of Belgium and continuing as Schelde to the North Sea.
