Ems-Jade-Kanal
The total length of this canal is 72.3 km. It was finished in 1888 and connects the towns of Emden, Aurich and Wilhelmshaven. In the course of its way it surmounts an altitude difference of 4.60. The highest point of this waterway lies between Wiesens and Upschört with just 5.6 meters above sea level.

Between the locks of Rahe and Wiesede, the canal is cut into the landscape for 23 km. For the rest of its way it is an elevated or bank canal.
 


Notice for Skippers
Maximum speed for leisure boats is 8km/h on the entire Ems-Jade-Kanal. Within the defined working hours, using the canal is free of charge. Outside these times each opening of bridges is € 3.07 and passing a lock € 10.23.
Fees for staying before locks and in the harbor of Aurich are just asked, if one stays for more than 24 hours. They are than 38 cents for the beginning of every 24 hours and each running meter.
