Upper Spree-Waterway, an idyllic waterway between Spreewald and Spree-Oder-Waterway
Coming from Berlin one leaves the Spree at the lock of Kersdorf and gets into the Oder-Spree-Kanal which we quit only a bit more then 10 kilometers later. We continue on the feeder canal Neuhaus into the Wergensee and get then again into the Spree. This beautiful area is unfortunately only navigable to the southerly end of Schwielowsee and the lock of Kossenblatt. Originally it was possible to get on the Spree to Leibsch and then over the Dahme flow canal to Märkisch Buchholz, which meant access to the Dahme waterway and therewith the south of Berlin.
The Spreewald in the south of this estuary is a paradise for canoeists and oarsmen.
Places alng the Wareway:
Leibsch / Neuendorf / Alt Schadow / Werder / Briescht / Trebatsch / Jessern-Schwielochsee / Beeskow
