the southern Havel-Oder variety
This waterway begins at the waterways crossing of Berlin-Spandau, where the Untere Havel-Wasserstrasse, die Havel-Oder-Wasserstrasse and the Berliner Spree, as a part of the SOW, meet. SOW passes from the west of Berlin through the city and then, over Fürstenwalde to Eisenhüttenstadt at the Oder and therewith also to the southwest of Poland with its industrial area around Breslau.
After the Castle of Charlottenburg the Landwehrkanal branches off the Spree to the southwest, surrounds Kreuzberg and flows then again into the Spree. From Köpenick on
the skipper navigates on the Dahme to the Seddinsee where the Spree-Oder-Kanal branches off.
The Spree itself continues at Köpenick (called Müggelspree) in direction Grosser Müggelsee, Dämeritzsee and then as Spree again to Fürstenwalde, where it affiliates at the “Grosse Tränke” with the SOW.
From km 79 we are on the Fürstenwalder Spree and cross this town at km 75. At km 90 we change again into the Oder-Spree-Kanal, passing Müllrose to Eisenhüttenstadt and Fürstenberg. Therewith we are at the Oder and the border to Poland.
