Canels & Rivers in Great Britain
Inland Waterways of Great Britain This definitive reference book of the inland waterways was adapted in the 1950's by L.A. Teddy' Edwards from A Handbook of the Principal Canals & Rivers of England and Scotland', which itself was a successor to Bradshaw's publication of 1904. Teddy looked after the book for thirty-five years and it remains as the only single volume to cover in detail all the inland navigations in England, Wales and Scotland. Each canal is described briefly, with historical details, followed by tables of distances between locks, bridges and other features, accompanied by maps, with enlarged sections where necessary. Waterways undergoing restoration are included, as are derelict canals, which are accessible by foot. The book includes many photographs and illustrations, and is accompanied by a separate Imray's map of the waterways. Published 1998. 300 pages. 304 x 215 mm. Hardback.
