Skiing, mountain climbing, pubs and canal boat holidays are just some of the things English people started with in Europe. More than 100 years ago the first altered freight ships where used for a holiday or leisure trip. On the continent some countries are proud to have 400 year old canals, while canalized rivers in England were partly constructed by the Romans and are still in use. There is nothing on all of Europe’s waterways that matches the superbly cared for narrow boats. A lot of them can be hired. If you like to spend your holiday under friendly people and a visit to a pub from time to time, you are just right here. For a careful planning of the nicest time of the year you find everything in our online bookshop. It offers a large selection of maps, guides and books of all the European

Canels & Rivers in Great Britain
Inland Waterways of Great Britain This definitive reference book of the inland waterways was adapted in the
1950's by L.A. Teddy' Edwards from A Handbook of the Principal Canals &
Rivers of England and Scotland', which itself was a successor to Bradshaw's
publication of 1904. Teddy looked after the book for thirty-five years and it
remains as the only single volume to cover in detail all the inland navigations
in England, Wales and Scotland. Each canal is described briefly, with historical
details, followed by tables of distances between locks, bridges and other
features, accompanied by maps, with enlarged sections where necessary. Waterways
undergoing restoration are included, as are derelict canals, which are
accessible by foot. The book includes many photographs and illustrations, and is
accompanied by a separate Imray's map of the waterways. Published 1998. 300
pages. 304 x 215 mm. Hardback.
