Lago di Garda
It is not only the biggest lake of Italy but also the loveliest of the big mountain lakes. Its banks are less cliffy then those of its neighbors in the west. The southern character of its shores provides already a Mediterranean atmosphere. This is not always an advantage in high season though!
If you like it more peaceful, you can find some charming “fishermen villages” in the northeast.
There blow often good winds for surfers, it is therefore very popular to them.
