River Nemunas (Memel)
The 937 km long river flows first from Belarus over Lithuania, which it meets in the south, to the Courland Lagoon and therewith to the Baltic Sea. Just like River Daugava in the northern neighbor country Latvia, also River Nemunas was part of the Beresina link of Baltic Sea to Black Sea. Today it's limitedly navigable to the town of Kaunas, where River Neris is flowing into it. Lighter barges used to navigate on River Neris between the capital Vilnius and Kaunas.
