Hollandse Ijssel
It is only conditionally a river today since, after the many embankments and redirections of waterways in this part of Zuid-Holland and Zeeland, it is feed by canals only. But still, it could mostly preserve its river character until Gouda. As from there to Nieuwe Maas just short before Rotterdam, it is a main waterway.
Tidal influences reach Gouda and are between 1.80 and 3.30 m.

Ringvaart Harlemmermeerpolder

 Ringvaart van de Haarlemmermeerpolder

Ringvaart van de Haarlemmermeerpolder
This cruising ring in the southeast of Amsterdam has 60 km and goes from Buitenkaag to Buitenkaag including the big yachting areas of Westeinderplassen, Brassemermeer and Plassen. On this stretch are, next to millions of flowers, also many of the people of Amsterdam enjoying their weekend…
And, almost in the middle of this vaart, the airport of Schiphol provides some aircraft noise “now and then”.

Spaarne & Liede

Spaarne, the waterway of Haarlem
The navigable part of Spaaren goes from Haarlemmermeerpolder, south of the town of Haarlem, to the north and the Noordzeekanaal.  There is a link between Haarlem and Spaarndam, the Liede.
