The partly canalized waterway starts at the confluence of Stoobosser Trekvaart, Prinses Margriet Kanaal and Van Starkenborgh Kanaal goes over Oude Vaart, Zijldiep and Munnekezijlster to Reitdiep at Zouthkamp. There is only one harbor for passing boats at Munnekezijl . The waterway is hardly used today.

Waterways in the northwest of Province Groningen
This one leaves the Reitdiep at Zoutkamp and goes in a bow back to Reitdiep at Onderendam. Warffumermaar, belonging to it, is a short detour to Warffum.
