in south Friesland is more likely a, with short canals, connected chain of lakes (lakes are called meere here).  

The waterway starts at the harbor town of Stavoren (almost any Dutch town is a harbor town…)goes over Warnser Vaart, Morra, De Oorden, Fluessen and Heegermeer to Heeg, becomes then a canal and crosses Wijde Wijmerts before it gets to Prinses Margriet Kanaal.

The 7.3 km are starting at Fluessen, going over Zwarte Woude to Koudumer Vaart and then Mokwerum at the IJsselmeer. 
North of Molwerum is a bird reservation. Unfortunately one can’t find a wharf in the village but the small village Koudum has a small harbor for passers-by.
