Volkerk to the small town of Steernberg (7.5 km) and Roosendaal (20.5 km)has in the east access to Mark-Vlietkanaal. Over this, one gets after 6.8 km to Dintel.

Dintel, Mark und Markanaal

The canal starts by Oosterhout at Wilhelminakanaal, goes westward, becomes the Mark after Terheijden and flows after 38.5 km at Dinteloord, as Dintel, into the Volkeral.
The towns of Breda ( 3.5 km), Etten-Leur (5.5 km, Oudenbosch (1.8 km) and Roosendaal can be reached over side canals and have their own wharfs or marinas.

Together with Steenbergsche Vliet which runs a bit further south, Wilhelminakaal and Zuid-Willemsvaart, this is a nice variety for the skipper to the big rivers, in order to get from South Holland or Zeeland to the area of Limburg.
