spring
of this overall 866 km long river, lies in the eastern
foothills of the Sudeten in the CzechRepublic. Having left the
town of Oastrave, it gets to the
Polish border. As from Kotzle, the Oder is navigable and
crosses Silesia in north western
direction, forming then from Eisenhüttenstadt the German – Polish border.
Locks along this river are fairly modern and in general well maintained. One
has to be aware of sandbanks and other obstacles. There are some quite big
places along the river; supplies are therefore less of a problem then on other
Polish waters.

(Breslau)
The beautiful capital of Silesia reminds with the many
side branches of the Oder and the canals a bit of Paris, and, with the splendid
streets, of old Hanseatic cities. It offers all amenities.
