After the confluence with River Nera and River Danube, at km 1075.6, the main river changes once more its territories. First it forms the border between Serbia and Romania and after the mouth of Timok, for 400 km the one to Bulgaria. After the big town of Silistra at the Romanian side, River Danube is entirely on Romanian grounds.
Just for short though, at the confluence with River Pruth short after Galati, it becomes Border River to Ukraine.
With a length of more than 1000 km Romania claims nearly one third of its entire length for himself. The well known Iron Gate and the world famous Delta of Danube, with hundreds of km2 of untouched nature, are part of this stretch.
