River Danube in Serbia
for 37% of its entire length of 2845 km, River Danube is a border river, it only crosses 6 countries. The first 136 km, it forms the border to Croatia, flows then for 232 across the country before it becomes Border River again, this time the one between Serbia and Romania.
After the Serbian place of Rudajevac, it finally leaves Serbia behind and becomes Border River between Bulgaria and Romania.
For hundreds of years, the stretch in Serbia belongs to the nicest of River Danube. During the Yugoslavian War towards the end of the last century, many of the small towns and almost every bridge was destroyed. Today, towns and bridges are rebuilt and on the water side exists quite a large offer of marinas and Restaurants. Towards the border to Bulgaria, surroundings become mountainous, banks steep and cliffy and wharfs become therefore rare.
