Bega Canal & Bega River
The short branch canal starts at the town of Temesvar, goes from their nearly very straight to the southwest and crosses after 45 km the border to Serbia short after Itebej. 30 km further, the canal flows into the small river Bega (Begej). Soon after, River Begej has access to Danube-Tisza-Danube Canal. Another 36 km later, one gets into River Tisza which flows after 10 km already into River Danube, between Novi Sad and Belgrade.

River Begej gets a first time canalized at the power station above the charming Bulgarian town of Temovar and crosses then the agricultural high plateau at the border to Serbia. After the lock weir south of Mihajlovo it is for a short stretch part of Danube-Tisza-Danube-Canal but leaves this already after a few kilometers, being a river again. The banks are then more or less natural again, a part of the town area of Zrenjanin.
