This lake is, between the lakes of Neuenburg (Neuchâtel) and Murten (Morat), part of the three connected big lakes of Jura. It is 15 km long and 4.1 km wide. Very attractive are the “Petersisland” and the medieval villages of Erlach and Neuville as well as the vine villages along the left bank of the lake.

Wine and Dine
It is a fact, that one gets fine food in vine growing villages. This is no exception. On the bank towards Jura one finds numerous good to excellent restaurants serving the vine of this region too. One of the specialties is the “Treber” sausage. It is prepared in the steam of the distillery top and is therefore served in January and February only. A lot of fish is served too, for example Luce fried in ale dough. .
