one might get the idea, that it is a Swiss lake. In reality only about 20% of
the lake lie in Switzerland, the big rest belongs to Italy. This 80% make it
second in size of the Italian lakes after the “Lago di Garda”. Well known places
on the Italian side are Stresa, Arona, Luino etc. It has a surface of 212.5 km2
and a maximum depth of considerable 372 m which means that the sea ground is up
to 170 m below sea level.
